REP (the Resource Efficiency Program) seeks to promote awareness of environmental issues and resource conservation in the houses. There is one REP representative per house, and each is responsible for coordinating the efficiency efforts in his or her own house. REP adopts a focus every two weeks, which draws attention to pertinent residential issues (e.g. dining, water-use, heat, waste disposal, etc.) and the ways in which we can lessen our impact on the environment. Currier has a very proud history as a "green" house, having won the inter-house Green Cup competition two years running. Green Cup assesses each house on the basis of its successes in recycling and energy conservation. It also takes into account the Eco-Projects each house undertakes. Eco-Projects can take the form of anything from a study break, to a workshop, or house-wide green gift (e.g. reusable steins for stein club). Currier has a generous Green Fund with which to sponsor various projects conceived of by students, so contact the Currier Rep, Rachel Banay, with ideas for your project or general comments or suggestions!
