Faculty Dean, Currier House Professor of Government and Technology (she/her/hers)
Sylvia and I are the X.D. and Nancy Yang Faculty Deans of Currier House. Part of my vision for Currier is for it to be a learning community, where each person has opportunities to explore new frontiers, to try new things, to have meaningful experiences and to make and grow from mistakes. Sylvia and I enjoy the variety of people and experiences that blend to make our Currier home community. In some of my other hats, I am Professor of Government and Technology in Residence at Harvard University and formerly the Chief Technology Officer at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. My mission is to create and use technology to assess and solve societal, political and governance problems, and to teach others how to do the same. So, I bring new technologies and technological experiences to Currier regularly. I earned my PhD in computer science from MIT, being the first black woman to do so.
